GIROLAMO FRACASTORO
Girolamo Fracastoro era uno studioso. Collega e amico di Niccolò Copernico, Fracastoro fu anche professore di logica all’Università di Padova, fu fondatore della patologia ed anche astronomo.
In questa statua che lo raffigura ha in mano una palla a rappresentare la terra
Il popolo la ha ribattezzata “la bala” che in dialetto significa "palla".
LA LEGGENDA
La statua guarda il tribunale e in quella strada vi era il passaggio per il vecchio tribunale da parte di giudici e avvocati ed era vicina a tutti i palazzi del potere di quel tempo. La bala è legata ad una profezia: "cadrà sulla testa del primo galantuomo che passerà sotto". Finora non è mai successo. Il popolo di Verona usava questa storia per sbeffeggiare gli uomini del potere.
IL GIOCO
Sotto la statua vi è disegnata una scala
Dite al vostro bambino o bambina di posizionarsi con i piedi dove c’è la scala proprio sotto la statua e che alla domanda che gli farete dovrà rispondere con la verità altrimenti la statua tirerà la palla giù in testa.
Fate la domanda che volete e tenete pronta la macchina fotografica quando il bambino risponde, per fare una foto quando alza gli occhi per vedere se arriva la palla sulla sua testa.

Girolamo Fracastoro was a scholar. Colleague and friend of Niccoloò Copernico, Fracastoro was also a professor of logic in the University of Padova. Founder of the pathology and astronomer. In this statue he has in hand a ball which symbolized the earth. The people were renamed it “la bala” which in dialect means ball.
THE LEGEND
The statue look at the courthouse and in that way there was the passage for the old courthouse of magistrate and lawyer; it was near all the palace of the power of that time. “La bala” is connected to a prophecy: it will fall down above the head of the first gentleman who will pass below. Up until now it has never happened. The people of Verona used this story to fool the man of the power.
THE GAME
Below the statue there is a staircase.
Tell your son or daughter to get in position where there’s the staircase, below the statue, and at the question you will ask, he/she will answer with the truth, otherwise the statue will drop the ball above the head of the children.
Ask the question you want and keep the camera ready when the children answers: he/she will look up to see if the ball fall down.
