CAPITOLIUM
Sino a pochi anni or sono si credeva ubicato alla destra del foro ma, dopo i recentissimi scavi, si è stabilito che sorgeva sul lato di testa: precisamente sull'area di Palazzo Maffei e Monte di Pietà. Dedicato alla triade Capitolina, il tempio dominava da un rilievo artificiale le costruzioni circostanti ed era accessibile con una serie di scalinate. Rettangolare, su un podio, aveva il pronao con 18 colonne (3 file di 6) e nella parte posteriore 3 celle di differente ampiezza. Quella centrale era dedicata a Giove, come ricorda l'epigrafe: "IOVI OPTIMO MAXIMO ORDO VERONENSIUM". Alla base era circondato per 3 lati da un portico. Il Foro, che si apriva di fronte al "Capitolium", al di la del Decumano Massimo, aveva una superficie di 11.000 mq. circa, il doppio della attuale piazza Erbe. Nei 2 lati maggiori era fiancheggiato da portici, sui quali si ergevano i Palazzi pubblici. Sulla destra, di sicuro, la "Curia" e la "Basilica".

With a rectangular form it had a pronao with 18 columns and in the posterior part 3 different cells. The Foro, which was opened on front of the Capitolium had a 11.000 mq. Surface. On the 2 major sides there were same entrance on which were built the Public palaces. On the right the Curia and the Basilica.
